What is TURN Thurston? 

1. TURN Thurston is a grass-roots organization seeking to organize like-minded fiscal and social conservative voters in efforts to change our communities, state, and nation for the better.   
2. Our primary aim is to remove the intimidation and fear many conservative voters feel about getting involved. 
3. Here’s why: We represent a group of people whose core values are under attack. The institutions of our local, state and national governments were created with the goal of establishing the conditions necessary for citizens to build a great nation. But if we don’t do the building—if we do nothing—we are the idiots, not the government.  
4. Plato famously said, “One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.”  
5. We know working together is sometimes hard. There’s been quite a bit of division in local, state and national politics—even amongst conservative voters. However, in our country, if you disagree with someone’s politics, you can fix it by getting involved. That’s why our message is “Be the change.” 

1. We believe conservatives should be able to say—and stand—for what they believe without fear of reprisal. 
2. We believe people are the source of the government’s authority and that voting and civic participation are each citizen’s “super-power.”  
3. Participation that makes a positive difference is our aim. We need to be the change we want to see in government. 
4. We believe in the power of listening and working together to achieve our goals, but not if it compromises our core conservative values. 
5. We won’t tell people how to think, but we will challenge them to start thinking. Learn. Investigate. And, most importantly, take action.
